Catholic Retirement Communities

For senior citizens who want a retirement community that not only meets their everyday needs but also their spiritual needs there are facilities based around various faith traditions. Catholic retirement communities are one such example and of course cater to senior citizens who are of the Catholic faith. One example of such a facility is the Milwaukee Catholic Home. At this facility you can choose between independent living, assisted living and even rehabilitative care. The type of living arrangement that is best for you will depend on your individual needs and level of independence.

The independent living apartments here provide seniors with a tastefully decorated, low maintenance housing option. There are several different floor plans available which include studio apartments, one bedroom apartments and even apartments with as many as three bedrooms. These apartments include three meals per day, twice weekly housekeeping services, cable television and utilities excluding telephone. There are daily activities to participate in, daily Mass and 24-hour security in addition to an emergency call system. Seniors can maintain their independence while feeling safe and secure because there is care available if they need it.

Catholic Retirement Communities

Assisted living apartments are similar in style to independent apartments. The difference is that the residents receive a higher level of care and assistance. The level of assistance provided is based on each individual's needs and preferences. Assistance can be given with bathing, grooming, dressing, medication administration and more. Each assisted living apartment has an emergency pull cord and nursing is available around the clock. These apartments are ideal for seniors who require a certain level of assistance but also want to maintain as much independence as they can.

Of course the spiritual life at Catholic retirement communities is of importance and the Milwaukee Catholic Home is no different. There is a worship chapel and Roman Catholic Mass every day excluding Wednesday. There are Protestant services once per month, and spiritual classes including Bible study available on a regular basis. One thing you should know about these retirement communities is that they do welcome residents of other faiths besides Catholic. There is likely one of these communities somewhere near you, so it should be easy to find more information. Arranging a tour and consultation is the first step when considering a move to any retirement community.
